BMW Going Green At Manufacturing Plants, Too

There isn't an automaker in the world right now that isn't doing every single thing they can to make their vehicles as green as possible. Engineers are helping consumers lower their carbon footprints with hybrid vehicles, all-electric vehicles, and even all-gas vehicles that simple take and consume fuel more conservatively. Every year, billions of dollars go into research for how to better these technologies, as well as alternative fuels and fuel cells and aerodynamics, but all of this has to do with the cars themselves. How does a company truly go green, from start to finish? By making sure the process by which cars are actually manufactured is environmentally friendly, as well.
We here at Center BMW are proud to say that not only do we have green cars (with our first all-electric offering hitting lots within a year), but our whole organization works efficiently, with 400 new solar power modules recently installed at our BMW Manufacturing heritage museum and visitor center in South Carolina. This saves tons of money on energy every year, and is obviously even better for the environment. And the good news is that this is likely only the beginning. We wouldn't be surprised to see the higher-ups extend this source of energy to all BMW manufacturing plants around the world.
Santa Monica BMW owners obviously are about green technology as much as anybody, but it's important to remember that it's not just about the cars themselves being efficient. The rest of the company's businesses needs to be handled greenly, as well. This is just evidence that we're well on our way to that.
