2012 BMW M5 Featured In "Bullet" Commercial

If we told you that someone packed a full-sized 2012 BMW M5 into the barrel of a giant shotgun, then pulled an unseen trigger to catapult the vehicle at top speeds through a humongous apple, three enormous water balloons, and a big bull's-eye, you'd probably shake your head at us and accuse us of lying.
We're not lying, though. That actually happened, and we've got the video evidence to prove it.
But why would anybody put all that time, money, and energy into something so crazy? Because in order to advertise to people effectively in today's world, you've got to get creative, and nobody is ever going to accuse the higher-ups in the BMW marketing department of being uncreative.
In the spot, the '12 M5 is "shot" out of a faux gun barrel and almost immediately gets up to its top speed of 155 mph. Meant to mimic those super-slow-motion films of bullets going through normal-sized apples and water balloons, the car then shoots through the huge glass apple and the oversized water balloons. Of course it ends up smashing into the bull's-eye, perhaps as a way to symbolically show that this car really hits the mark with customers, bringing the epic ad to an emphatic close.
For BMW dealers in Los Angeles, this is exactly the sort of thing that helps generate buzz for the brand among customers. That's the whole point of advertising in the first place, and we're glad there's a commercial we love out there right now for a vehicle we love.
And you thought we were lying.
